AUSA 2014: RTL to launch new Skystar aerostat

Israeli aerospace company RT LTA Systems will unveil the latest in its Skystar family of aerostats at the Association of the US Army (AUSA) exhibition next week.

The company has announced it will introduce its Skystar 400 which is the first of its systems to comprise four optical fibre cables and greater payload for extended communication volume and range.

Aerostats have proven popular over the past decade for a variety of operations around the world including Afghanistan and Iraq where such platforms’ intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) toolsets were used to provide base protection and overwatch capabilities.
