The Latvian National Armed Forces have completed the installation of a Spike Team Trainer (STT) system, manufacturer Rafael Advanced Defense Systems announced on 7 October.
STT trains in procedural, psychometric, cognitive and divided attention skills, according to Shephard Defence Insight.
The system is designed to provide tactical training for a Spike combat team and can train single gunners, sections or platoons through the full operational sequence, leading the gunner through all stages of the firing sequence from visual or IR surveillance of a simulated image up to target impact. The trainer also includes after-action reviews.
In Latvia, the STT will train forces to use the Spike LR2 and Spike SR ATGMs, which were procured from the EuroSpike JV between Rafael, Diehl Defence and Rheinmetall Electronics.
