I/ITSEC 2018: Final M-346 Lavi GBTS delivered

Elbit Systems has completed the delivery of the final Ground Based Training System (GBTS) for the Israeli Air Force (IAF) Aermacchi M-346 Lavi trainer aircraft.

It is thought that this latest tranche of equipment reflects the upgrade to the IAF’s 30 Lavi trainers that was completed in 2017. This upgrade includes new software, the fitting for external fuel tanks, and the ability to drop live and practice ordnance.

The Lavi is used to train pilots and Weapon System Operators for the IAF’s F-16, F-15 and F-35 fleets. Operation of the aircraft is managed by TOR Advanced Flight Training, a JV
