South Korea takes FMS route for new MPAs
South Korea has selected the Boeing P-8A Poseidon to meet its requirement for a new maritime patrol aircraft to augment its fleet of 16 P-3C and P-3CK Orions, according to an announcement on 25 June.
The Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) will gain an unspecified number of aircraft – although is thought to be six in total – for approximately KRW1.9 trillion ($1.71 billion). These aircraft will be delivered in the 2022-23 timeframe.
