Polish submarine fleet run aground
The Polish Navy may be forced to decommission its only Kilo-class submarine, ORP Orzel , as a result of an incident while the vessel was undergoing maintenance work.
The Polish Ministry of Defence confirmed a fire broke out on the submarine after local media reported on the matter. It took the navy a month to inform the public about the accident, which occurred on 27 September when the submarine was moored at Gdynia Naval Base in northern Poland.
