Pakistan Navy inducts ATR 72 aircraft and Luna NG UAVs
The Pakistan Navy (PN) has inducted two ATR 72 aircraft – one in the Sea Eagle maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) configuration and another as a transport – as well as unspecified numbers of Luna NG tactical UAVs into service.
Speaking at the 4 January induction ceremony at Naval Air Station PNS Mehran, Pakistan’s naval chief Adm Zafar Mahmood Abbasi noted the ATR 72 MPA (serial ‘78’) will ‘substantially enhance’ the operational capabilities of the Fleet Air Arm, whilst the addition of the ATR in a cargo/para-dropping role (‘76’) will provide ‘added flexibility’ to special forces operations.
