IDEX 2019: Russia brings out Pantsir-ME

Russian manufacturer Rostec showcased its Pantsir-ME shipborne missile and gun air defence system, a new iteration of the Pantsir-S1 ground-based system, at IDEX 2019 for the first time.

During a presentation the company said that the new system was already in service with the Russian Navy but declined to specify how many Pantsir weapon systems were in use, only commenting that the entry to service was recent because of how new the product is.

The system can be fitted to ships with a displacement of 300t and above.

The Pantsir-ME has a 30mm Ao-18KD automatic gun and a surface-to-air
