IDEX 2015: Firms agree on coastal defence development

MBDA and GEM Elettronica and cooperating with local UAE company Siham Al Khaleej Technology (SAKT), to develop a cost-effective coastal battery system.

Announced at the IDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi, MBDA told Shephard the system at IDEX is similar to one that was offered at DIMDEX 2014 in Qatar, but with the main additions being the GEM radar and SAKT as the main integrator.

The system is part of a ‘Head of Agreement’ signed during the 2013 Dubai Air Show that sees SAKT as the prime contractor and system integrator, MBDA as the supplier of the launchers and the launching
