GDLS to produce weapon systems for US Navy
The US Navy has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) a $26.20 million fixed-price contract for producing MK 46 MOD 2 Gun Weapon Systems, according to its 9 January announcement.
The weapon systems will be used for the Littoral Combat Ship Mission modules and DDG 1000 Zumwalt Class Destroyer Close-In Gun System with associated Remote Console Assembly units.
Work under this contract is expected to complete by November 2016.
GDLS is the sole manufacturer for the MK 46 MOD 2 gun weapon system, which has been selected to support the anti-surface warfare requirements for LPD-17, LCS and DDG 1000 class ships.
