According to Shephard Defence Insight, a total of 223 M109A7s and 222 M992A3s have been ordered by the US Army from BAE Systems.
Ultimately, the US Army plans to acquire 689 of each type, to completely replace the M109A6 and M992A2 on a one-for-one basis. However, deliveries in 2020 were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
