TrackingPoint debuts precision-guided firearm
TrackingPoint has debuted its new 338 TrackingPoint (338TP) precision-guided firearm at the ShowStoppers event at CES 2015 on 6 January.
The 338TP, which is code-named ‘Mile Maker’, features the company’s fighter-jet ‘tag and shoot’ technology, allowing less experienced shooters to make more precise mile-long shots, even on moving targets at speeds of 30mph.
The Linux-based 338TP uses advanced image processing and tracking technology to acquire and follow targets. It can wirelessly stream real-time shot video to wearable digital shooting glasses, which feature TrackingPoint’s ShotView software and run on the Recon Instruments Jet smartglass platform.
The shooting glasses enable users to shoot around corners and other protected positions, team with other shooters, and have greater situational awareness. The system also allows users to record video and voice for later review or to share with others.
Advanced orders have begun in January 2015 and shipments will begin in June.
