Thales test man-portable LMM
Thales UK Advanced Weapons Systems (ADW) is developing its Lightweight Multi-Role Missile (LMM) for the land environment.
In early December Thales conducted preliminary verification firings of an LMM with a view to develop a man-portable product.
A Thales spokesperson told Shephard that a tripod-launched LMM variant achieved a range of ‘beyond 6km’ during firings at an undisclosed MoD test range and added that they expect to have a man-portable LMM prototype demonstrator in place by the end of 2015.
Thales is reluctant to disclose additional details about the final configuration of the man-portable, precision strike variant, due to commercial sensitivities.
