Taiwan initiates M60A3 upgrade plan
The Republic of China Army (ROCA) has announced it will kick off a research process to upgrade its M60A3 TTS MBT fleet. After a long and fruitless period of seeking US-built M1 Abrams tanks, the ROCA is turning to its secondary option of modernising the M60A3.
The ROCA has 450 M60A3 TTS and 400 CM11 MBTs in its inventory. The CM11 Brave Tiger was developed by General Dynamics and the ROCA Armoured Vehicle Development Centre in the 1990s, combining an M48A3 turret onto an M60A3 hull.
