Taiwan awards night vision equipment contract
Taiwan has awarded a contract for night vision tubes to Exelis and its partner U&U Engineering, as announced by Exelis on 3 February. The contract is valued at over $10 million.
The contract will see Exelis and its partner deliver the order of night vision equipment to Taiwan over the first half of 2015.
Exelis will produce and deliver its third-generation night vision equipment, designed for various military night operations.
Generation 3 night vision tube technology provides greater mobility and superior visbility to soldiers under low-light conditions, ensuring mission effectiveness. It gives soldiers on the battlefield greater situational awareness and a significant tactical advantage.
Nick Bobay, president and general manager, Exelis Night Vision and Communications Solutions, said: ‘This is our first contract award of night vision equipment for the Taiwanese military, and we will work diligently with our partner U&U Engineering to deliver our renowned Gen 3 quality tubes.’
