Summer award date for US hypersonics launcher contract
A contract will be awarded ‘later this summer’ for a transporter erect launcher (TEL) from which the US Army will conduct its first ever erect launch of a hypersonic glide body in FY2022 before battalion fielding a year later, according to a senior US Army official.
The TEL will be based on an existing army M870 trailer with the TEL design phase beginning following contract award.
