Serbia receives upgraded T-72s from Russia
The Serbian military has begun to receive upgraded T-72 MBTs donated by Russia, after the first pair of tanks was airlifted by Il-76 (pictured) on 28 October to Batainica Air Base near Belgrade.
Deliveries are set to continue in November. Russia is providing up to 30 MBTs under a wide-ranging agreement dating from December 2016, with Serbia covering upgrade and refurbishment costs.
Shephard Defence Insight notes that Russia also agreed to supply MiG-29 fighter aircraft and BRDM-2MS 4x4 armoured vehicles.
