Sagem receives new SIGMA 30 pointing system order
Sagem’s SIGMA 30 navigation and pointing systems will equip CAESAR guns being delivered to an unnamed Asian customer by Nexter Systems, under a new contract announced on 5 March.
The order will see Sagem supply 37 SIGMA 30 systems, which will bring the long-range CAESAR artillery system immediate, high-precision firing capability.
The SIGMA 30 features large digital ring laser gyro technology. Suited for deployment in distributed configurations, the Sigma 30 system enhances the mobility and protection of support forces, offering a pointing accuracy greater than 1 angular mil for azimuth and 0.5 mil for elevation. It operates independently but can also house a GPS receiver as an option.
As part of the French Army’s CAESAR gun systems, SIGMA 30 has been deployed to theatres in Afghanistan and, most recently, Mali, for Operation Serval.
