Russian Army receives Solntsepek systems
The Russian armed forces' Central Military District in Altai Krai has taken delivery of new TOS-1A Solntsepek heavy flamethrower systems, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced 13 February.
The three systems have entered service with the district's Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defence protection unit. Training for personnel on the new system has already taken place.
The flamethrower systems are designed for setting on fire and eliminating hostile fortifications and buildings, and incapacitating light-armoured vehicles.
