Russian unit rearmed with S-400 SAM
An air defence missile unit of the Russian armed forces’ Eastern Military District (MD) Air and Air Defence Army located in the Primorsky Krai has been rearmed with the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 13 November.
Four air defence regiments were rearmed with the S-400 in 2016 and another four regiments are scheduled to be equipped in 2017. This will see several units equipped with the S-400 SAM systems for combat duty in the Eastern MD.
The S-400 is a long-range surface-to-air missile system. The system is designed to defeat all modern and prospective air and space weapons, various aircraft, tactical and operational ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets and jammers.
