Russia receives new mortar, mine-clearing vehicles
The Russian armed forces has received a batch of modernised 2S4 Tulpan self-propelled mortars, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 13 November.
The modernised vehicles have been equipped with modern communications and control systems.
The system is designed to strike reinforced buildings, fortifications, manpower concentrations and armoured hardware. The mortars have already undergone acceptance testing ahead of their re-introduction.
The MoD has also announced new engineering vehicles for Strategic Missile Forces units. Twenty Listva remote mine-clearing vehicles and about 50 engineer support and screen vehicles will be delivered by 2020.
The Listva mine clearance vehicle detects radio-controlled land mines and neutralises them via ultra-high frequency impulse at ranges of up to 100m. The vehicles will escort the Yars missile system.
