Russia launches large-scale BMP-2, BMD-2 upgrades
The Russian MoD and KBP, a subsidiary of the industrial conglomerate Rostec, have signed a contract covering the upgrade and refurbishment of around 540 BMP-2 and BMD-2 tracked IFVs.
The deal was inked on 29 September by the Russian minister responsible for defence procurement, Yury Borsov, and KBP’s managing director Dmitry Konoplev.
The upgrade works will be undertaken by the KBP-owned Shteglovsky Val plant in Tula, south of Moscow.
The contract price and its duration were not disclosed at the signature ceremony. It was only hinted that the newly-built facility at Shteglovsky Val has a capacity to upgrade up to
