Romania selects the Piranha V
The Romanian Ministry of Economy signed a MoI with General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) for the licensed manufacture of the Piranha IFV.
The signature ceremony took place on 13 October 2017 and was attended by the Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Tudose as well as other government officials.
This was a de facto act of selection of the new-generation wheeled IFV for the Romanian Land Forces, which is slated to replace all of the currently used 8x8 armoured vehicles in the inventory.
Defence Minister Mihai Fifor said at the ceremony that the negotiations with GDELS for agreeing a firm delivery
