Rheinmetall gets Kuwait NBC order
Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) has been awarded a contract to supply Kuwait with 12 Fuchs/Fox 2 NBC-RS armoured reconnaissance vehicles, Rheinmetall announced on 1 July.
The company will start delivering the vehicles in 2017. The contract also includes a five-year support agreement for vehicle servicing, personnel training and spare parts, which will begin when the first vehicles enter into service.
Pietro Borgo, managing director, RMMV, said: ‘This important order is a major vote of confidence by an Arab country in Rheinmetall, Europe’s leading supplier of army technology. We greatly appreciate this. By placing this order, Kuwait will soon possess NBC reconnaissance capabilities that are second to none. We are very pleased to be making a decisive contribution here.’
The Fuchs/Fox 2 NBC-RS use a suite of devices to identify NBC warfare agents and hazardous materials. It is based on a wellprotected, high-mobility 6x6 armoured transport vehicle capable of operating in extreme terrain.
