US donates 200 M1117 ASVs to Colombian Army
The US has approved the donation of 200 units of the M1117 Guardian Armoured Security Vehicle (ASV) to the Colombian Army under the Excess Defence Article (EDA) programme.
Michael Howard, US DOD spokesman for Special Operations and Defence Security Cooperation, confirmed to Shephard that the vehicles have been approved as a grant or donation.
‘Colombia will have to pay for transportation and handling of the vehicles to get them to Colombia,’ he added. According to the EDA database on the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) website, the total current value of the 200 vehicles is $16.19 million.
