Belgium adds to up-armoured civilian vehicle fleet
The Belgian MoD is increasing efforts to improve the mobility of its ground troops and has acquired six more Civilian Armoured Vehicles (CAVs) of the SUV and/or pick-up truck type.
A €1.18 million ($1.43 million) contract for Austrian company Franz Achleitner to supply up to 42 CAVs was announced via the online EU tenders database on 8 January.
First deliveries of these platforms will take place by Q4 2021. The procurement not only augments an in-service fleet of CAVs but also represents a ‘long-term replacement of the current vehicles since they are heavily used abroad’, a Belgian MoD spokesperson told
