First Czech CV90 MkIV rolled out as part of multi-billion-dollar programme
The Czech Republic CV9030 MkIV has a more powerful 1,000HP engine than the previous variant and an upgraded X300 heavy-duty transmission.
Operation Atlantic Resolve to train Polish Army
For around three months, the US Army will train Polish Army troops under Operation Atlantic Resolve, as announced by the US Department of Defense on 26 March.
Troops and armoured vehicles from the US 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division will train the Polish troops in this year's operation rotation.
Lt. Col. Artur Golawski, a public affairs officer with the Polish Armed Forces General Command, said they planned roughly 70 international and bilateral exercises this year. Last year the Polish Armed Forces conducted 35 international and bilateral exercises.
The US army division is using some equipment from the European Activity Set, along with some equipment left by previous Operation Atlantic Resolve rotations. However, the division has also brought in more equipment to expand operations in Eastern Europe, according to Capt. Erik Hamilton, commander of Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry.
Don Wrenn, US Army Europe public affairs plans and exercises, said: 'Having equipment forward located as part of the European Activity Set enables CONUS-based Regionally Aligned Forces to quickly move to Europe, draw the equipment and move out on their training mission. This greatly reduces the cost and time needed to move our forces and enhance our capabilities to support our European Allies and partners.'
The equipment will be staged in Germany until it is needed.
