Occar, Artec sign Boxer retrofit contract
Occar and Artec have signed a contract for the company to retrofit the German armed forces' Boxer vehicle fleet to the A2 standard, Occar announced on 29 June.
Under the contract, 246 Boxer vehicles will be upgraded to the A2 built-standard, bringing coherence to the current mixed A1/A2 fleet.
The upgrades will increase survivability of the vehicles, adding a driver vision system and updating safety standards for the drive modules. The mission modules will receive changes to loading lists and stowage, and improvements will be made to the explosion suppression system and satellite communications.
The advanced driver vision system will allow the vehicles to travel on public roads without support by the commander.
The retrofit is expected to be finished by 2023.
