Next generation Michelin military tire wins soft soil battle
For heavy trucks that work mostly off-road in soft-soil conditions such as sand and snow, Michelin is introducing the next generation of the MICHELIN XZL2 tire for both military and off-road commercial applications. Introduced today at the Eurosatory military vehicle show in Paris, the XZL2 tire features a redesigned tread pattern that offers greater speed capabilities and improved tread life over a wide range of terrains.
“Whether you’re driving a tactical military vehicle in Afghanistan or a snow plow in Minnesota, the XZL2 tire will exceed expectations in terms of speed capability and mileage,” said Jim Griese, director of military products for Michelin North America. “This tire incorporates the best features of our popular XZL tire and delivers the enhanced performance that our customers need.”
Lower ground contact pressure in the XZL2 tire (available in size 395/85R20) delivers this performance without sacrificing the off-road capabilities and toughness for the world’s most demanding applications. The XZL2 tire is the latest offering in a long line of Michelin tires that deliver to military vehicles and heavy trucks the on/off road capabilities necessary to accomplish their appointed missions.
