New weapons are on their way to the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) following the recent award of two contracts for RPGs and 81mm mortars.
With a notice of award issued on 10 December 2019, the Spanish company Expal Systems was contracted to provide 30 81mm mortars for a total cost of PHP175.7 million ($3.4 million). The order includes ballistic computers and EO systems with laser rangefinders and thermal imagers.
Bidding for this Lot 2 procurement took place in August 2019. Hirtenberger was the only other contender for this contract. The 81mm weapons are to be delivered within 360 days.
