Navistar details MRAP contracts
Navistar Defense will perform work on the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle fleets of two countries under two contracts worth a combined $475 million announced on 9 March.
Both awards were issued by the US Army Contracting Command and are related to US foreign military sales agreements.
The first contract will see the company produce and support 40 MaxxPro Dash DXM MRAP vehicles for Pakistan. The second is to reset, upgrade and support 1,085 long wheel base MaxxPro MRAP Excess Defense Article vehicles for the United Arab Emirates.
Delivery of vehicles on the Pakistan contract is planned to be complete by 2017, with work on the UAE award set to complete the following year.
Kevin Thomas, president and general manager, Navistar Defense, said: 'MaxxPro vehicles are recognised as the most survivable wheeled vehicles in the US military's fleet. We are pleased that these important US allies are confident in the MaxxPro's ability to protect their forces allowing them to complete their missions and return home safely.'
