Milrem puts THeMIS through its paces in Italy
Milrem Robotics has demonstrated its autonomous THeMIS UGV with Intelligent Functions Integration Kit (MIFIK) to the Italian Army, the Estonian company announced on 3 November.
MIFIK includes autonomous functions such as waypoint navigation and follow-me guidance. ‘Although presented on the THeMIS, MIFIK can also be integrated onto other unmanned vehicles providing the same capabilities,’ Milrem noted.
As well exhibiting THeMIS in Italy, Milrem also launched its Intelligent Systems Implementation Analysis and Assessment (IS-IA²) programme to aid the implementation of robotic systems into army doctrine.
IS-IA² comprises three steps: analysis of requirements; implementing a tailor-made robotics and autonomous systems solution; and evaluating the outcome.
‘IS-IA² provides armed forces support from initial planning to full implementation and post-implementation analyses of intelligent and robotic systems with (NATO standard) concept development and experimentation methodologies. This enables customers to get support and solutions for any step in the process,” said Jüri Pajuste, defence R&D director at Milrem.
