METRAVIB to equip French armoured vehicles
METRAVIB has received a contract from Renault Trucks Defense to develop the acoustic gunshot detection system to be fitted in the French Army’s Jaguar and Griffon vehicles.
The two new armoured vehicles are being delivered under the French Army's Scorpion programme. From 2018 these vehicles will be common to all branches of the armed forces and will form the core of the future Scorpion force.
Accoustic gunshot detection systems have become a vital component of protection solutions for armoured combat vehicles.
The company's SLATE acoustic sniper localisation system is used on the French military's VAB armored vehicle. The system is designed as a threat sensor for armored vehicles. Coupled with a Remote Weapon Station, it enables quick slew-to-cue, with the information provided by the SLATE system automatically transmitted to other units by the armored vehicle’s information system.
