Meggitt to upgrade UK DCCTs
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded Meggitt £10.2 million in contracts to upgrade British Army Dismounted Close Combat Trainers (DCCTs), the company announced on 4 August.
The DCCT is a small arms training system that has been in service with British forces for over a decade. The contracts will upgrade them to support virtual military training systems and Meggitt's simulated weapons range.
Three contracts were awarded to enable portability and flexible system architecture and add fire control system simulation training. Indirect fire training and Forward Air Control training upgrades are also included.
Deliveries for the first contract will begin in November 2015.
Larry Raines, Vice President of Virtual Systems, Meggitt Training Systems, said: 'Meggitt is committed to a continued, long-term partnership with the UK MoD, one of our most important virtual training systems customers.
'As combat training requirements evolve and the consolidation of resources and manpower grows in importance, the UK MoD's investment in the system validates our cost-effective and flexible approach.'
