Land Forces 2016: Hawkei slithers toward service
A Thales Hawkei fitted with a Kongsberg Protector remote-controlled weapon station (RWS) appeared at Land Forces 2016, perhaps a signal that is a weapon option the Australian Army will adopt.
The vehicle on display was version 3.2, which is essentially production standard, Ian Gethin, director of marketing & sales operations at Thales Australia, told Shephard.
Low-rate production of the Hawkei will commence next year with full-rate production slated for 2018. On 5 October 2015 Thales was awarded a contract to manufacture 1,100 Hawkeis for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in both two-door and four-door configurations.
