JGSDF unveils new NBC decontaminating set
The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) unveiled a new decontaminating set at Camp Oomiya on 27 May, the home base for the Central Nuclear Biological Chemical Weapon Defense Unit and the Chemical School.
The truck-mounted decontaminating set underwent research and tests from 2008-10, was prototyped from 2011-13, and technical and practical tests were conducted in 2015.
Compared to incumbent equipment, the set features unitisation of various functions, plus enhanced suitability for mass contamination events where people are unable to walk. Additionally, there is a decontaminating function for electronic devices, it can process waste liquid and it can be readily transported
