Israel requests Namer APC power packs
The US State Department has made a determination approving a potential FMS of Namer armoured personnel carrier (APC-MT883) power packs, less transmission (NPPLT) and related equipment to Israel, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 13 February.
In a package worth $238 million, Israel has requested 240 Namer APC-MT883 power packs, less transmission (NPPLT) in full configuration; 30 Namer APC-MT883 power packs, NPPLT in light configuration; and 179 control and diagnostic systems.
Israel has also requested an integrated logistics support package that includes special tools for C-Level maintenance; oil spray nozzle test bench; preservation and packaging; containers; configuration management; and other related elements of logistics and programme support.
These upgraded power packs will be used on Israel’s APC-MT883, fielded in 2008.
If the sale goes ahead, MTU America, the North American subsidiary of Rolls Royce Power Systems, will be the prime contractor.
