Hungary orders KMW equipment
Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) has received a contract from Hungary to supply 44 new Leopard 2A7+ main battle tanks (MBT) and 24 new PzH 2000 howitzers.
Under the contract, Hungary will also procure 12 used Leopard2 A4 MBTs from KMW’s inventories for training purposes.
KMW’s Leopard 2 A7 + provides passive all-round protection to its crew against threats such as roadside bombs, mines and bazooka fire. Its improved opto-electronics provide for day/night reconnaissance over long distances.
The PzH 2000 is a highly mobile and flexible weapon system. The fully automatic handling of the 60 round on-board ammunition reserve and a modern and precise 155 mm/ L52 ordnance enable the engaging of targets at a high rate of fire within a short amount of time.
