First view of Verba MANPADs
Russia’s new next generation man-portable air defence (MANPAD) system was put on public display for the first time.
The 9K333 Verba MANPAD was shown by manufacturer, KBP during the MAKS aerospace exhibition, at Zhukovsky airfield near Moscow in the last week of August.
Verba has an improved lethality and reliability performance compared to its predecessors: the 9K310 Igla-1, 9K38 Igla and 9K338 Igla-S. It retains the basic layout of the Igla-S together with most of its design features, but comes outfitted with an all-new nitrogen-cooled infrared seeker.
