Eurosatory 2010: GDELS unveils next-gen Eagle
General Dynamics European Land Systems - Mowag unveiled its next-generation Eagle light tactical vehicle at Eurosatory which offers improved survivability, payload and mobility.
The modular survivability systems of the new Eagle are integrated with the new high survivability cabin. According to a GDELS official the new Eagle provides 'MRAP like protection' adding that 'it surprised even us' during blast testing. Energy-absorbing seating and occupant-restraint systems further improve crew survivability.
The demonstrator shown at Eurosatory will be joined by a second vehicle later this year. The new Eagle, being offered by GDLS-Australia, is one of three vehicles being considered
