Eurosatory 2010: BAE launches ULW, delivers it for SOF field trials
BAE Systems’ solution to ‘reduce the burden’ of dismounted warfighters will be evaluated by NATO special operations forces (SOF) in the next few months, the company has revealed.
Unveiled simultaneously at Eurosatory, Paris and the SOF Industry Conference, Tampa on 14 June, the Ultra Lightweight Warrior (ULW) system is understood to comprise weight reductions of up to 35 per cent with the use of ’high performance materials’ to manufacture everything from helmets and body armour through to load carrying equipment and rechargeable batteries.
