DSEI 2015: FireStorm’s counter-ferrous capability

The latest variant of Rockwell Collins’ FireStorm joint fires targeting system, used for controlling and directing artillery and close air support, was unveiled on Wednesday at the DSEI exhibition featuring a number of enhancements.

These include the integration of an improved StrikeHawk digital tactical video downlink receiver as well as the latest High Accuracy Lightweight Targeter (HALT), an accuracy augmentation system that eradicates interference from ferrous objects such as armoured vehicles.

Weighing in at 1.2 kg, HALT provides the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) with an integrated GPS and LRF function that may be hand held or tripod mounted. From
