Sig Sauer comes out on top for Denmark’s new pistol
Denmark has selected the 9x19mm Sig Sauer P320 X-Carry as its new pistol after an evaluation of four shortlisted designs.
The P320 will be fielded in two variants – full size and compact – to replace the 9mm M/49 Neuhausen (SIG P210), the standard pistol used throughout the armed forces since 1949, and the 9mm Heckler & Koch USP used primarily by special forces units.
In January 2017, the SIG Sauer P320 MHS was selected for the US DoD’s Military Modular Handgun System (MHS) requirement and subsequently designated the M17 (full size) and M18 (Compact). The US Army’s 101st Airborne Division
