China deploys its longest-range rocket launcher
During China’s 70th anniversary parade through Tiananmen Square in Beijing on 1 October, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) exhibited a new type of multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS). Little was said about it in official commentary, and not even its name was revealed. However, this artillery piece is an important one for the Chinese army.
Indeed, this new MLRS mounted on an 8x8 truck chassis is deemed to be the longest-range conventional rocket launcher ever for the PLA. The examples rolling through Beijing were fitted with eight tubes for rockets of 370mm diameter, and it is claimed these possess a range
