Bahrain seeks TOW missiles
The US State Department has made a determination approving a potential foreign military sale of tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided (TOW) missiles to Bahrain, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency announced on 8 September.
In a package worth $27 million, Bahrain has requested 107 TOW 2A RF missiles, 77 TOW 2B Aero RF missiles and 37 TOW Bunker Buster RF missiles.
The potential package also includes government technical support/logistical support, contractor technical support and other associated equipment and services.
TOW are ground-launched heavy anti-armour missiles. The precision weapon system enables ground forces to achieve overmatch against adversary armoured and wheeled systems, regardless of the environment or conditions.
If the deal goes ahead, Raytheon Missile Systems will be the prime contractor.
