AU-220M gun potential for Russia and UAE
The Russian Ministry of Defence is considering purchases of a new 57-mm AU-220M light automatic gun turret system.
Built by Uralvagonzavod, the gun was officially presented during the IDEX 2015 and is a modernized version of AU-220 gun.
It was also fitted to the new Atom 8x8 armoured vehicle, built by Renault Defence Trucks and based on the French VBCI and shown at the Kadex exhibition in Kazakhstan last year.
The original gun design was for naval applications for vessels with a displacement of 250t. The new M-model is to be mounted on tracked or wheeled vehicles.
