Analysis: Turkey suffers heavy MBT losses in Syria
Turkish Land Forces involved in the Euphrates Shield operation in the northern part of Syria have suffered from painful losses in manpower and arms.
The second half of December 2016 was particularly tough during fighting against Islamic State (IS) militants defending the city of Al-Bab.
The first conclusion that can be drawn from the battles waged by the Turkish military against IS, is once again the issue of the MBT vulnerability when facing anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), especially in the case of side-on hits and the MBT tactics used on the battlefield.
