AM General receives order for 740 HMMWVs
AM General has received an order to provide 740 new M1152 A1 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to the US Army National Guard as a part of modernisation efforts.
The M1152 A1 is a single cab with open cargo area HMMWV variant that is enhanced with integrated armour protection and can serve as a troop or cargo transport vehicle.
Delivery of the new M1152A1 HMMWVs will begin in the second quarter of 2019.
This new order follows a recently awarded five-year contract worth $121 million for systems technical support (STS) services for the family of HMMWVs. The STS services contract will support government task orders for engineering, logistics and quality assurance projects.
Through the contract, the company will develop and/or integrate new capabilities into the existing US Army HMMWV fleet. The efforts include integrating C3 subsystems to support units such as Infantry Brigade Combat Teams and Security Force Assistance Brigades.
