Venari-85 platform being examined by variety of potential users
British naval vessel designer BMT is in discussions with a number of European and non-European countries looking at future mine countermeasure (MCM) procurements, utilising its Venari-85 concept.
Of these, the Belgian programme for six MCM vessels – worth more than $1.3 billion – is viewed as one the most promising with ‘positive’ dialogue having taken place for a number of years.
It is expected that BMT would make some minor changes to the ultimate design ahead of final proposals, following feedback from the potential customer.
