The command of the EU Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) Operation Atalanta to the waters off the Horn of Africa and wider Indian Ocean will continue operating from the UK until 29 March, despite a ceremony being held 25 March to mark its transfer out of its Northwood headquarters.

The operational authority of the multinational mission will be transferred at 11am (GMT) on 29 March when there will also be a ‘stand-up’ parade in Rota, Spain from which it will be coordinated going forward.

This move, and that of the Maritime Security Centre Horn of Africa to Brest, France, was announced in July
