ST Marine delivers vessel to Oman
Singapore Technologies Marine (ST Marine) has delivered the second patrol vessel, RNOV Shinas, to the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), the company announced on 10 September.
The delivery is a part of a contract with the Ministry of Defence of Oman signed in April 2012, under which the company is designing and building four Al-Ofouq class vessels to will replace the current four Seeb-class patrol vessels.
The Al-Ofouq class has a displacement of 1,250 tonnes and measures 75m in length. It is equipped with a combat management system and a range of weapons.
The new class of vessels can carry out various maritime and homeland security missions, such as undertaking extended surveillance patrols of the Sultanate Exclusive Economic Zone.
The third vessel was named as RNOV Sadh during the handover ceremony.
